Summary:

ATF, Inc. is looking for an individual who is passionate about Quality to provide problem-solving expertise in support of our customers and employees on the floor. We have a fun and dynamic quality team, and we’re seeking someone who shares our values and is eager to learn. Specifically, the Quality Engineer assists manufacturing in maintaining and improving quality at the source. The primary goal is to eliminate quality problems at the source, work with customers in understanding their needs and reducing their problems, and lead problem solving efforts to reduce quality problems both internally and externally.

Position Responsibilities:

Lead/participate in manufacturing group problem solving.
Initiate “8-D’s” when required for customer or internal rejects and follow up with effective problem solving efforts by creating teams to determine root cause (5whys3x, Ishikawa Diagrams, etc.), corrective action and verification.
Assist with follow-up to implementation regarding corrective actions.
Verify effectiveness of corrective action.
Visit customer facilities, as required.
Communicate status of quality issues to customers regularly.
Disposition as part of the MRB, customer returns, and internal reports
Implement improvements on manufacturing floor and work on internal quality issues
Provide training to operators
Manage appropriate data and publish accordingly for company-wide quality performance levels.
Generate studies, DOE’s, etc. to improve quality on a preventative basis.
Cooperate with ATF CI team
Enhance the culture of mutual respect and professional behavior
Follow all safety rules and practices.
Perform other tasks as directed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to listen and provide excellent customer service.
Able to influence others where no formal authority relationship exists and work with people at various levels, including hourly operators.
Able to handle pressure and effectively deal with conflict.
Knowledge of quality tools (5 Why3x, fishbone diagram, etc.).
Proficient use of PC and business programs, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
Proficient in reading blueprints.
Knowledge of SPC.
Knowledge of ISO9000/TS16949.
Knowledge of Micrometer, caliper, comparator and hardness checker.
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related degree and at least 1 year of experience OR a minimum of 5 years’ experience in fastener industry.
Mechanical ability
Fastener experience and metallurgical background is preferred.
Prior automotive industry/supplier experience is preferred.
Experience with heat treating and plating is preferred.
